The Mission of the Carmelite Ministry of St. Teresa is to provide a Carmelite inspired formation program for women with intellectual and developmental disabilities where they can live and mature in their physical, emotional and spiritual lives.

"We are getting up in age and we must find a home where our special needs daughter will be safe and happy."
"We have found that there are many good state-funded group homes offering care and services for the developmentally disabled, yet many lack a caring, family environment."
"Our daughter has the capacity to grow in every way, but so often she is placed in front of a TV all day."
"Our daughter is a very spiritual person who could benefit tremendously by living with a faith community."

Apartments are being constructed to accommodate 15 adult women with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are independent and ambulatory.  Each floor is equipped with a seating area, a bed, a closet, a kitchenette and a private bath.  A library, chapel/prayer room, laundry facilities are integrated into the space.  The lower level has a larger dining room where the women will be provided with nutritious meals, recreation/guest visiting room and private storage for each of the women.  An adjacent facility has classrooms and a gym/fitness area.

A holistic enrichment/formation program is being designed to help persons with developmental disabilities to grow to their intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual potential.  This program will serve both the 15 women who live at the new independent apartments along with other adults who will participate in enrichment programs.

"Our goal is to work with each woman that lives at the Ministry to identify the best formation and service match to preserve their independence and grow to their full potential."

Christ has no body but yours, no hands, no feet on earth but yours,
yours are the eyes with which He looks compassion on this world,
yours are the feet with which He walks to do good,
you are the hands with which He blesses all the world.
